Volleyball Suffers 1st Loss of the Year

The University of Findlay volleyball team suffered their first defeat of the season after falling 3-1 to Rollins on Saturday, Sept. 7 in the final match of the Shark Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

The Oilers, who ended the tournament with a 3-1 record, were led by seniors Danielle Taflinger and Mackenzie Vorst during the match.

Taflinger racked up 15 kills, hitting .500 for the match, while Vorst recorded 14 kills in the loss.  Taflinger also added nine blocks while Vorst racked six blocks of her own.

Sophomore Julie Lyons added eight kills and five blocks while junior Amanda Calhoun registered 42 assists and seven digs.

The Oilers hit .194 for the match and had 13 service errors in the loss.

Findlay will return home to host the TownePlace Suites Findlay Classic, which runs from Sept. 12-14 in Croy Gymnasium.
