Oilers Dominate SVSU on the Road

The University of Findlay volleyball team dominated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Saginaw Valley State with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-17) win on the road on Saturday, September 28.

Senior star Danielle Taflinger again led Findlay on offense, smashing seven kills in the victory. She was not alone in her assault as four other Oilers posted four kills or more.

Junior Amanda Calhoun was a jack-of-all-trades for Findlay putting down seven kills with a .778 kill percentage and collecting 21 assists, four digs, and one block.

Sophomore Julie Lyons, currently fourth in the conference in blocks per set, and junior Lindsy Reindel each made solid contributions on both offense and defense as they each had four kills and seven blocks. Lyons is leading the GLIAC in hitting percentage, hitting a blistering .426 in conference play.

Senior Mackenzie Vorst, who is getting 2.33 kills per set in GLIAC play, was on pace while amassing six kills. She also was a defensive factor as she posted seven digs for the Oilers.

Another star on defense were junior Samantha Granger and senior Brittany Hall who accumulated eight and seven digs, respectively.

Findlay now has a hitting percentage of .245 in conference play, which is good for fourth among GLIAC schools.

Findlay will return home following a lengthy road trip with a 7:30 GLIAC contest vs. the Warriors of Wayne State on Tuesday, October 1 in Croy Gymnasium.
