Volleyball Home for 3 Matches this Week

The University of Findlay volleyball team will be at home for three contests this week, beginning tonight against Wayne State University.  The Oilers will host the Warriors tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium and then welcome Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University to town over the weekend.  The Oilers will play the Huskies on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and host the Wildcats for a 2 p.m. match on Saturday.

The Oilers are 10-3 on the year with a 3-1 record in conference play, which is good enough for a share of first place in the South Division.

Findlay is featuring a balanced offensive attack with six players over the 50-kill mark for the season.

Senior Danielle Taflinger leads the team with 110 kills while fellow senior Mackenzie Vorst is right behind her with 108 kills.  Sophomore Julie Lyons (90), junior Lindsy Reindel (75), sophomore Andrea Roach (56) and junior Amanda Calhoun (50) have all made their presence felt on the offensive end as well.

Calhoun leads the team with 405 assists and senior Brittany Hall has led the defense with 90 digs.

Wayne State

The Warriors are 6-6 on the season, which includes a 3-1 record in GLIAC play.  The team is led by Kristen Bulkiewicz, who has recorded 155 kills.  Her kill total is the third best mark in the GLIAC.

Michigan Tech

The Huskies are 6-7 on the year with a 3-1 record in conference play.  Aubrey Fricek and Sylvia Rokosh lead the offense with 132 and 127 kills, respectively.

Northern Michigan

The Wildcats are 9-4 on the season with a 3-1 record in GLIAC play.  Lina Lopes leads the team and tops the conference with 175 kills.  Kalli Herron and Sarah Hamilton are also pounding the ball to the floor on a consistent basis and have recorded 145 and 121 kills, respectively.
