Taflinger Achieves Milestone in Loss

It was a tough afternoon for The University of Findlay Oilers volleyball team, who dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) match to the Chargers of Hillsdale College by a score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-22) on Saturday, October 12 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers attack was led by senior Danielle Taflinger, who collected ten kills and hit .421 in the match. Her seventh kill came early in the third set and cemented her place in Oiler volleyball history as she beame only the eighth player to reach 1,000 career kills at UF.

Senior Mackenzie Vorst and sophomore Julie Lyons played well, gathering seven and six kills, respectively.

Junior Amanda Calhoun led the defense as she had nine digs and also racked up 34 assists in the loss.

Freshman Hannah Tong contributed six kills and sophomore Andrea Roach had five.

The Oilers return to action next Friday, October 18 with a GLIAC contest at Ferris State slated to begin at 5pm.
