Oilers Blanked by #22 Ferris State

Box Score

The University of Findlay volleyball team fell to 12-7 on the year (5-5 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play) following a 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-14) road loss on Friday, October 18 to Ferris State University.

The Oilers are now 3-2 in road contests on the year but potentially none have been tougher than this trip where the team not only faced a four hour bus ride paired with the challenge of opposing a team ranked 22nd in the nation.

Senior hitter Mackenzie Vorst was a bright spot for the Oilers, smashing ten kills while hitting .348. She also collected three digs.

Junior Lindsy Reindel had a good match as she put down five kills in the three set loss.

Senior star Danielle Taflinger, who recently eclipsed the 1,000 career kill mark, added to her total with four kills. The middle blocker was one of two Oilers to collect a block. The other was junior setter Amanda Calhoun, who along with her block, posted 26 assists, two kills, and two digs.

The defense was led by senior Brittany Hall, sophomore Becca Shoemaker, and junior Samantha Granger who netted 11, five, and four digs, respectively.

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow afternoon at GLIAC foe Grand Valley State at 4pm.
