Box Score

The University of Findlay volleyball team made it back-to-back losses against top-25 opponents following a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11) loss to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader Grand Valley State on Saturday, October 19.

The Oilers will be glad to leave the state of Michigan following the most difficult weekend on their schedule where they dropped all six sets in the two matches they played. The two teams Findlay played this weekend, Ferris State and Grand Valley State, are a combined 20-2 in the GLIAC.

Leading the offense for the second day in a row was senior hitter Mackenzie Vorst who gathered seven kills in the match.

Sophomore Julie Lyons' five kills were good for the second most on the team.

Senior Danielle Taflinger had three kills and also two blocks on the day.

Collecting four kills for Findlay were junior Amanda Calhoun and freshman Hannah Tong. Calhoun, the Oilers' setter, filled the stat sheet by adding 21 assists and seven digs.

Senior Brittany Hall played well defensively as she netted eight digs in the three-set loss.

Junior Samantha Granger, sophomore Becca Shoemaker, and senior Jacqui Endre collected four, three and three digs, respectively.

The Findlay women will be back in action next weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 25-26 for the GLIAC/GLVC (Great Lakes Valley Conference) Crossover. The Oilers will be in Aurora, Illinois on Friday and in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday with teams and times for both days to be determined.
