Findlay Beats Tiffin in 5-Set Thriller

The University of Findlay volleyball team won an intense Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup by a final of 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 22-25, 15-8) over Tiffin University in Croy Gymnasium on Friday, November 1.

Leading the way for the Oilers were two senior standouts.  Middle blocker Danielle Taflinger tallied 14 kills, 12 blocks, and hit an outstanding .565 while her teammate, outside hitter Mackenzie Vorst smashed 15 kills and collected two blocks.

Taflinger's 12 blocks is the third highest single-match total in school history.

Amanda Calhoun, Findlay's setter, has been playing extremely well lately and had another solid performance as she posted 48 assists, 13 digs, and also contributed three kills.

Freshman Shannon Ebert, filling in for an injured sophomore Julie Lyons, played well as she accumulated nine kills while hitting .412. The middle blocker/outside hitter also had three blocks in the contest.

Amassing eight kills in the 5-set marathon was freshman Andrea Roach.

Senior Brittany Hall led the way defensively for the Oilers as she had 16 digs and also added five assists.

Freshman Hannah Tong was a force at the net as she denied the Dragons time and again, accruing six blocks.

Senior specialist Jacqui Endre helped the defense by gathering nine kills.

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, November 2, at 7:30 in Croy Gymnasium as they look to defeat the Panthers of Ohio Dominican.
