Oilers Down GLIAC Foe Ohio Dominican

The University of Findlay volleyball team gained sole possession of second place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South standings on Saturday, November 2 following a 3-1 (25-17, 25-12, 15-25, 25-16) win over Ohio Dominican.

The Oilers, who improved to 16-9 overall and 7-6 in the GLIAC, were led by senior Danielle Taflinger who attacked as well as she has all season. The middle blocker posted 15 kills and hit a scorching .789. That hitting percentage is the second highest in Findlay history for a single match. She also had two blocks.

Also making a heavy contribution to the offensive attack was senior outside hitter Mackenzie Vorst who gathered 14 kills and four blocks.

Freshman Hannah Tong played well as she had seven kills, one blocks, and two aces in the match.

Assisting the offense was junior setter Amanda Calhoun who amassed 36 assists.

Freshman Shannon Ebert played well for her second night in a row as she gathered three kills, two aces, and four blocks.

Leading the defense were senior Brittany Hall and junior Samantha Granger. The duo picked up 17 and nine digs, respectively.

The Oilers are back in action this Tuesday, November 5, as they hit the road to take on GLIAC opponent Wayne State in a match slated to begin at 7pm.
