Oilers Win 6th Straight Contest

The University of Findlay volleyball team continued its winning streak by winning 3-1 (25-23, 28-30, 25-9, 25-22) on Friday, November 8 over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Walsh University to improve their record to 18-9 and 9-6 in conference play.

The Oilers offense was lead, for the second match in a row, by freshman Hannah Tong who banged out 18 kills. The outside hitter also aided the defense as she had three blocks.

Continuing to hit at a high percentage was senior Danielle Taflinger who collected 11 kills while hitting at a .478 clip and also gathering four blocks.

Senior Mackenzie Vorst and junior Amanda Calhoun each amassed seven kills in the match. On top of those kills, Calhoun added 39 assists, 11 digs, and five blocks to complete an incredible stat line.

Freshman Shannon Ebert continued her consistent play as she gave Findlay five kills and three blocks in Findlay's sixth straight win.

Seniors Jacqui Endre and Brittany Hall were each on point with their service game as they finished with three and two aces, respectively.  Hall also picked up 21 digs and seven assists in the victory.

Also playing well defensively for the Oilers was junior Samantha Granger who picked up 15 digs.

Findlay will go for their seventh win in a row as they take on Malone University tomorrow, November 9, at 1pm in Canton. The Pioneers enter the contest with a 12-14 record (7-8 in GLIAC play).
