Tong Named GLIAC Player of the Week

Freshman Hannah Tong of the Oilers volleyball team was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division Player of the Week on Nov. 11.

Tong led the Oilers to a 3-1 record last week, racking up 65 kills in the four-match set.

The Carey, Ohio native recorded a career-high 21 kills in the Oilers 3-1 win at Wayne State on Nov. 5 and then came back with 18 kills in Findlay's 3-1 victory against Walsh on Nov. 8.  She then posted 14 kills in the Oilers 3-0 win at Malone on Nov. 9, which was followed by 12 more kills in the Oilers lone loss of the week to Wheeling Jesuit on Nov. 9 in Canton, Ohio.

Tong has registered 143 kills on the season and ranks second on the Oilers with 2.47 kills per set.

The Oilers have now claimed the last two player of the week awards as senior Danielle Taflinger captured the same honor last week.
