Volleyball Back at Home This Weekend

The University of Findlay volleyball team will host Lake Superior State University and Northwood University this weekend in Croy Gymnasium. The Oilers will play the Lakers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and then take on the Timberwolves on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Sights and Sounds

The University of Findlay will video webcast all of their home volleyball games on the internet.  The Oilers will also provide live stats for their games as well. The links are listed below:

The Oilers

The Oilers swept their two home matches last weekend in Croy Gymnasium, beating Ashland 3-1 before topping Lake Erie by a score of 3-0.

In the win over the Eagles, sophomore Hannah Tong led the way with 11 kills.

Junior Andrea Roach also reached double figures in kills with ten while red-shirt freshman Nickyla Garverick dominated the defensive end with nine total blocks.  Garverick also posted seven kills and hit a team-high .385 in the win.

Freshman Erika Roach tallied eight kills while junior Julie Lyons had five.

Senior Amanda Calhoun continued her stellar play with 34 assists, 13 digs, five blocks and three kills.

In the win over the Storm, Calhoun picked up 24 assists, six digs, three blocks and two kills in the three set victory.

The Oilers offensive fire power came from Tong and Garverick, who each smashed eight kills. Garverick also played well at the net as she had five blocks.  Andrea Roach added six kills and three blocks.

Junior Becca Shoemaker led the defense as she scrambled for 11 digs.

The Lakers

The Lakers are 1-6 on the season with a 0-2 record in conference play. They were swept last weekend by Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan as each team came away with 3-0 wins over Lake.

Sydne McMullen leads the team with 39 kills while Jen Marren has accumulated 35.

Janelle Nagy has made 80 assists and Meghan Drobish has recorded 76 digs.

The Timberwolves

The Timberwolves have posted a 3-3 record this season with a 0-2 mark in conference play. They will play Hillsdale before taking on the Oilers.

Allison Getty leads the team with 59 kills while Krysta Kramer has hammered down 58.

Jaclyn Kimmet has recorded 114 assists and Erin Hoomaian has hustled for 103 digs.
