Oilers Rally to Defeat NMU 3-1

The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Marquette, Michigan to take on Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe, the Wildcats of Northern Michigan on Saturday, September 27. The Oilers rebounded after dropping the first set to sweep the next three for a 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-23) victory improving their record to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Their record has Findlay sitting in first place in the GLIAC South Division.

Leading the Oilers offense with 12 kills was Hannah Tong. The sophomore is currently leading the conference in kills. Also playing well was redshirt freshman Nickyla Garverick who picked up 11 kills. Along with those kills, the nation's leader in blocks per set collected a pair of blocks. Sophomore Shannon Ebert smashed six kills to aid in the Oilers victory.

Setting up the offense was senior Amanda Calhoun, who had 35 assists. The setter also had nine digs.

Junior Becca Shoemaker again led the team on defense as she achieved a 16 dig match.

The Oilers will be back in action on Friday, October 3 as they travel to take on GLIAC foe Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Michigan. The match will begin at 7:00pm.
