Oilers Improve on Their GLIAC South Lead

The University of Findlay volleyball team won their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup with the Warriors of Wayne State University on Saturday, October 4 by a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-14) final. The win pushes the Oilers record to 11-3 on the season and a GLIAC South leading 8-1 in conference.

Leading the offense for the Oilers was sophomore Hannah Tong who hit an outstanding .435 and picked up a team-leading 12 kills. Freshman Erika Roach and redshirt-freshman Nickyla Garverick  both hit well as they hit .368 and .429, respectively. Roach had 10 kills while Garverick had eight.

Senior Amanda Calhoun and junior Becca Shoemaker each aced the Warriors twice. Along with the aces, Calhoun picked up 30 assists and Shoemaker led the team with 11 digs.

The Oilers are back in action on Friday, October 10 as they return to the friendly confines of Croy Gymnasium for a GLIAC matchup vs. the Bulldogs of Ferris State in a match slated to begin at 7:30pm.
