Tong Named GLIAC Player of the Week

GLIAC Weekly Honors

Hannah Tong, a sophomore outside hitter on the Oilers volleyball team, was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division Player of the Week on Oct. 6.

Tong led the Oilers to a pair of road wins over the weekend by averaging 18.5 kills per match.  She recorded 25 kills, the seventh best single match total in school history, in the Oilers 3-2 win at Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 3 and registered 12 more in Findlay's 3-0 victory at Wayne State on Oct. 4.

The Carey, Ohio native leads the GLIAC in kills with 186 on the season and also leads the league in kills per set at 3.44.

This is the second time Tong has garnered South Division Player of the Week honors. She also earned the honor on Nov. 11, 2013.

Tong and the Oilers, who are in first place in the South Division with a league record of 8-1, will be at home for two matches against nationally ranked Ferris State and Grand Valley State this weekend.
