Oilers Sweep McKendree for First GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Win
The University of Findlay volleyball team captured a 3-0 (25-23, 28-26, 25-20) victory in their second match of the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover held in Aurora, Illinois. The win, which took place the morning of Saturday, October 18, pushed the Oilers record to 12-6 on the season.
Sophomore Hannah Tong had her second straight 14 kill match and extended her GLIAC lead in the category while fellow sophomore Andrea Roach smashed nine kills.
Redshirt-freshman Nickyla Garverick collected eight kills but was more deadly on the defensive side of the net as she extended her GLIAC lead in blocks with six in the contest.
Senior Amanda Calhoun played very well as her 37 assists and two aces helped guide the Oilers, while senior Samantha Granger led the team in aces as she diced up the Bearcats four times.
Junior libero Becca Shoemaker stood out on defense as she scrambled for 15 digs in the contest.
The Oilers are set to take the court again at 4pm as they will face the Indianapolis Greyhounds later this afternoon.
