Saturday Sweep: Oilers Defeat Battlers in Straight Sets and Go 2-0 for the Day

The University of Findlay volleyball team improved their record to 19-6 overall with their 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-20) victory over Alderson-Broaddus in the final match of a tri-header held on Saturday, November 1st.

Leading the Oilers offense was redshirt freshman Nickyla Garverick who finished the match with nine kills. Junior Julie Lyons and junior Shelby Reindel each had six kills each.

Defense at the net was the name of the game as Lyons led the way with eight blocks. Close behind were teammates Garverick and senior Amanda Calhoun who each had seven.

Calhoun was the driving force behind the Oilers offense as she picked up 31 assists and eight digs in the sweep.

Freshman Madelyn McCabe was stellar at the line as she aced the Battlers three times.

The Oilers will be back in action this Tuesday, November 4th for their final regular-season match of the season as they play host to non-conference opponent Cedarville University in a match set to begin at 7:30pm.
