Oilers Streak Reaches Double-DIgits With Sweep of Storm

The University of Findlay volleyball team won its final Friday match of the season on November 7 with a road win at Lake Erie. The 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-14) victory over the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe pushes the Oilers record to a South Division leading 14-3 in conference and 21-6 overall.

Redshirt freshman Nickyla Garverick led the offense as she was the only player in the match to reach double digit kills. She finished with 10 in the victory and also picked up four blocks. Sophomore Hanna Tong also played well in limited action as she picked up six kills in only two sets. Sophomore Mallorie Kah played a solid all-around game as well as she picked up four kills and five blocks in two sets of action.

Senior Samantha Granger was stellar at the service line as she aced the Storm four times. Junior Becca Shoemaker, who led the team with 11 digs, also served well as she had a pair of aces.

Senior Amanda Calhoun played well as she guided the offense with 29 assists.

The Oilers will play their final regular season match of the year as they travel to Ashland to take on the Eagles on Saturday, November 8 in a match slated to begin at 2pm. Findlay, now on a 10-match win streak, will then begin GLIAC Tournament play with a match on Wednesday, November 12 with the time and location to be determined.
