The University of Findlay volleyball team continued their road trip, as they traveled to #24 Grand Valley State University on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Oilers defeated the nationally-ranked Lakers 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 28-26, 17-25, 15-25). Findlay now sits at 16-6 on the season and 9-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Junior Hannah Tong and sophomore Erika Roach led the way offensively as they compiled 22 and 18 kills, respectively. Sophomore Nickyla Garverick also added 10 kills and led the team with three blocks.
Freshman Hailee Olson recorded 61 assists and two serving aces while senior Becca Shoemaker had a team-high 25 digs.
Freshman Kara Scherger helped out defensively with 14 digs and sophomore Madelyn McCabe was also active on defense with 10 digs.
The Oilers return to action on Friday, Oct. 30 as they host Tiffin University in Croy Gymnasium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
