Chargers drop Oilers 3-1

The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 3 to take on the Hillsdale College Chargers.  The Oilers were unable to come away with a victory, as they lost 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20) and fell to 18-7 on the season and stand at 11-3 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers had a balanced offensive attack with four players reaching double digit kills.  Junior Hannah Tong led the way with 14 kills, while freshman Amanda Winner had 13 kills and added 10 digs.

Senior Julie Lyons contributed with 12 kills.  Sophomore Nickyla Garverick also came away with 12 kills and she led the team with four blocks.

Freshman Hailee Olson orchestrated the offense with 47 assists and added three blocks.  Senior Becca Shoemaker led Findlay with 18 digs.

The Oilers are back in action on Friday, Nov. 6 as they travel to Walsh University.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
