Oilers Down #6 Wheeling Jesuit 3-1

The University of Findlay volleyball team came away with a 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 28-30, 25-21) win over 6th-ranked Wheeling Jesuit on Nov. 11 in Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers, who are now 21-7 on the year, were led by junior Hannah Tong and freshman Amanda Winner in the match. Both players racked up 18 kills in the win.

Sophomore Nickyla Garverick had a great game for the Oilers as well and ended the contest with 15 kills and six blocks. She also hit .414 in the match.

Senior Julie Lyons hit .400 in the win and accumulated 11 kills while fellow senior Andrea Roach saw seven attempts go for kills.

Freshman Hailee Olson posted 61 assists and nine digs while senior Becca Shoemaker had 24 digs.

Freshman Kara Scherger was also active defensively and recorded 15 digs in the match.

As a team, the Oilers had 72 digs and .262 in the match.

The Oilers will return to the court again on Friday when they host Lake Erie College at 7 pm.
