Oilers Earn National Tournament Berth

The University of Findlay volleyball team has earned the fourth seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Division II Tournament bracket following a 25-8 season, which included a 15-3 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) play and a 21-5 record against regional opponents.

This marks the first time since 2003 that the Oilers have earned an NCAA tournament bid. In that season, Findlay entered as the fourth seed and was defeated by Northern Kentucky in the quarterfinals.

In 2001, the Oilers season ended with a regional tournament loss to Grand Valley State in the second round and ended up ranked 21st in the country, the highest ranking an Oilers volleyball team has ended with in the history of the program.

The first time Findlay made the NCAA national tournament was 2000, coach Wick Colchagoff's third year at the helm. In that season the Oilers lost in the second round to Northwood University.

Findlay will be taking on Hillsdale College in the first round of the Midwest Regional. The regional event will be held on the campus of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.
