Oilers Improve to 3-3

The University of Findlay volleyball team hosted Clarion University to begin the TownePlace Suites Classic on Friday, Sep.9.  The Oilers started the tournament on a good note with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-23) victory in their first match of the day.

Game 1 Box Score

Leading the way for the Oilers was a three way attack of senior Hannah Tong (13 kills), sophomore Amanda Winner (13 kills, six digs, two serving aces), and junior Nickyla Garverick (12 kills).  Garverick was active at the net defensively as she recorded four block assists.

Senior Mallorie Kah controlled the net defensively with three solo blocks and one block assist.  Sophomore Kara Scherger led Findlay with 10 digs in the match and freshman Jenna Hoppe added seven digs.

Sophomore Hailee Olson continue to distribute the ball well on the season, as she totaled 34 assists.

Game 2 Box Score

In the second match of the day, the Oilers defeated University of Pitt-Johnstown 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16).  The two wins boost Findlay's record to 3-3 on the season.

Offensively, Findlay finished the match with a .434 kill percentage as a team.  The Oilers were once again led by Winner with 14 kills and Tong with 14 kills and she finished with a .571 kill percentage.

Olson's superb passing led to her collecting 35 assists in the match.  Scherger provided defensive support with 10 digs.

Kah showed her excellence at the net again in the second game with one solo block and three block assists.

The TownePlace Suites Classic continues tomorrow, Saturday, Sep. 10, as the Oilers return to Croy Gymnasium at 3:00 p.m. against Malone University.
