Oilers Fall to Wayne State 3-1

On Tuesday, September 27, The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Detroit, Mich. to take on Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe, Wayne State University.  The Oilers were unable to knock off the Warriors, as they were defeated 3-1 (25-15, 18-25, 17-25, 22-25) by Wayne State.  This was the first loss for the Oilers in GLIAC play and they are now 8-5 on the season and 4-1 in the GLIAC.

Senior Hannah Tong led the Oilers by smashing 17 kills and finishing the match with a .351 kill percentage.  Sophomore Amanda Winner contributed offensively by pounding out 12 kills.

Sophomore Hailee Olson distributed the ball well throughout the match with a team high 35 assists.  Sophomore Kara Scherger continued to perform well for the Oilers in the libero role.  She recorded 23 digs in the match and also picked up three aces.

At the net, senior Mallorie Kah continued to be a defensive force.  Kah and Tong both attributed three blocks each to lead the team.

Findlay continues their road trip this weekend with another GLIAC matchup in Houghton, Mich. against the Huskies of Michigan Tech University.  The match is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start time.
