Oilers Host #21 Bulldogs and Lakers this Week

The Oilers will host #21 Ferris State and Grand Valley State this week in Croy Gymnasium. The Oilers will welcome the Bulldogs to town on Oct. 21 for 7 pm contest before the Lakers come to Croy on Oct. 22 for a 2 pm match.

American Children's Cancer Awareness

The Oilers will be wearing gold shirts during warmups against Ferris State on Friday to help raise awareness for American Childhood Cancer Organization. 50/50 raffle sales will be donated to help the research efforts for the ACCO.

GLIAC South Division Player of the Week

Senior Hannah Tong was voted the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week on Oct. 17 for her performance at the Midwest Region Crossover in Aurora, Ill.

Tong smashed 57 kills in three matches, more than any other player at the event, including a season-high 24 kills in a five-set win over McKendree. She had a hitting percentage of .366 for the tournament while putting away 4.34 kills per set. Tong also threw in one solo block and six assisted blocks to give her 61.0 points for the event, fifth most of all participating players.

Tong is now second in the GLIAC with 4.08 kills per set, third with 298 kills, and eighth with a .315 hitting percentage. She has 1,381 kills in her time at Findlay, which is good for fifth all-time.

Findlay

The Oilers are 15-5 on the season with an 8-1 record in conference play. They have won seven straight matches and are riding a 28-match home winning streak.

The Oilers recently went 3-0 at the Mizuno Midwest Crossover, which was held on Oct. 14-15 in Aurora, Ill. They earned wins over McKendree (3-2), Missouri-St. Louis (3-2) and Drury (3-0).

Hannah Tong leads the team with 298 kills while Amanda Winner is right behind her with 253. Winner has also added 47 aces, 147 digs and 16 blocks for the Oilers on the year.

Nickyla Garverick has produced 174 kills and 63 blocks while Molly Hammersmith has hammered 131 kills and recorded 39 blocks.

Hailee Olson makes the offense go and has registered 791 assists to go along with 22 aces, 27 blocks, 94 digs and 50 kills.

Mallorie Kah leads the team with 81 blocks while Kara Scherger has a team-high 338 digs.

#21 Ferris State

The Bulldogs are 16-5 on the season with a 7-1 record in GLIAC play.  They are ranked 21st in the nation and are led by Allyson Cappel and her impressive statline of 250 kills, 252 digs and 42 blocks.

The Bulldogs have also received over 180 kills from Ayanna Buckley (192), Katie Placek (186) and Maria Kronner (183).

Stephanie Sikorski has recorded 832 digs and 196 digs while Lauren Reminga has accumulated 357 digs to led the defense.

Grand Valley State

The Lakers are 11-8 on the season with a 5-3 record in conference play. They have been led by Jayci Susueland, who has recorded 253 kills.

Staci Bower has been a force for the Lakers with 216 kills and 73 blocks while Katie Olson has registered 643 assists and 208 digs.

Kendall Yerkes and Brooke Smith are tied for the team-lead with 256 digs apeice.
