Oilers Bounce Back with 3-1 Win over Lakers

The University of Findlay volleyball team captured a 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-16) win over Grand Valley State University on Oct. 22 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory gives the Oilers a 16-6 record on the season with a 9-2 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers hit .312 in the match and received a monster performance by sophomore Amanda Winner, who double-doubled with a match-high 18 kills and 11 digs.

Senior Hannah Tong pounded 15 kills to go along with four blocks while freshman Molly Hammersmith smacked 12 kills, hitting .478 in the win.

Junior Nickyla Garverick recorded nine kills while sophomore Hailee Olson contributed 49 assists.

Defensively, senior Mallorie Kah was a force at the net and ended the game with nine blocks. Sophomore Kara Scherger chipped in 15 digs as well.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct. 28 when they travel to Painesville, Ohio to take on Lake Erie College at 7 p.m.
