Oilers Host Warriors on Tuesday

The Oilers will host Wayne State on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in Croy Gymnasium in a battle of the top two teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.

GLIAC South Division Player of the Week

Senior Hannah Tong was tabbed the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week on Oct. 31 for the second time this season. She also earned the honor on Oct. 17.

Tong achieved the honor by racking up a total of 46 kills over the weekend. She also hit .481 in the two matches against Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican.

The Carey, Ohio native recorded a season-high 29 kills in the Oilers 3-2 loss at Lake Erie on Oct. 28, the fourth highest single-match total in school history. She then followed with 17 kills in Findlay's 3-0 victory at Ohio Dominican on Oct. 29.

The Oilers are 17-7 on the season with a 10-3 record in conference play. They are currently leading the South Division of the GLIAC.

The Oilers have been led by senior Hannah Tong and her 371 kills. She is averaging 4.22 kills per set and hitting .327. She has also chipped in 54 blocks on the year.

Sophomore Amanda Winner has recorded 298 kills and 55 aces while junior Nickyla Garverick has produced 196 kills, 73 blocks, and his hitting .369 on the year.

Sophomore Hailee Olson has registered 949 assists, 114 digs, 56 kills, 35 blocks and 27 aces while senior Mallorie Kah leads the team with 104 total blocks.

Sophomore Kara Scherger leads the defense with 391 digs while sophomore Megan Wendel has contributed 120.

The Warriors are 18-7 on the season with a 9-4 record in GLIAC play. They feature a balanced offensive attack with four players over the 200-kill mark on the year.

Hailey Richardson (238), Mikayla Shell (231), Hannah Moore (228) and Michelle Asiedu (211) have all topped 200 kills while Avery Punches has recorded 141.
