Oilers Sting Yellow Jackets

The University of Findlay volleyball team hosted Cedarville University for their last home game of the regular season on Tuesday, November 8.  The Oilers swept the Yellow Jackets 3-1 (25-16, 25-12, 24-26, 25-14) to boost their record to 20-7 on the season.  This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Oilers have had a 20 win season. The win also marks win number 400 for head coach Wick Colchagoff at the University of Findlay.

The key to the Oilers success was their defense's ability to close down the opponent's hitting lanes and the offense efficiency compared to Cedarville's.  The Oilers finished the match with a .336 kill percentage, while the Yellow Jackets mustarded a measly .071.

Leading the way for Findlay was senior Hannah Tong, who hammered 19 kills to go along with a team high four total blocks.  Junior Nickyla Garverick added offensive support with eight kills.

Sophomore Amanda Winner recorded a double-double by pounding 16 kills and picking up 11 digs, while finishing the match with a kill percentage of.577. Winner also led the team with 2 aces.

Sophomore Hailee Olson orchestrated the offense with 47 assists.  Sophomore Kara Scherger had a team high 18 digs and freshman Molly Hammersmith helped the cause with nine digs and eight kills.

The Oilers return to the court on Friday, November 11 for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match at Tiffin University.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
