FIndlay Falls in Quarterfinals

On Wednesday, November 16, The University of Findlay volleyball team hosted Lake Erie College in the Quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament. The match went the distance, with the Storm coming from behind to knock of the Oilers 3-2 (23-25, 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 11-15).  With the loss, the Oilers record now stands at 21-9 on the season.

Three Oilers reached the double digit kill mark with senior Hannah Tong leading the way with 20 kills.  Sophomore Amanda Winner added 19 kills and junior Nickyla Garverick recorded 12 kills.  Garverick also had a team high five total blocks.

Sophomore Kara Scherger led the team with 24 digs, while junior Megan Wendel registered 16 digs.

Sophomore Hailee Olson excelled in her role of distributing the ball for the Oilers as she picked up 59 assists in the match and led the team with two serving aces.

The Oilers are currently ranked 2nd in the Midwest Region.  The top eight teams in the region will continue their season in the NCAA Tournament.  Be sure to check back in at athletics.findlay.edu to see if the Oilers will receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
