Hannah Tong Named All-American by D2CCA
On Tuesday, Dec. 6, senior volleyball player Hannah Tong was named third team all-American by the Conference Commissioner's Association. The CCA makes their all-American selections based on the votes by NCAA Division II College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
Tong, who was named Midwest Region Player of the Year by the CCA, led the Oilers with 480 kills and .294 during the 2016 campaign. This is the first time that an Oilers player has been named all-American by the CCA.
Tong was voted the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Attacker of the Year. In her career, Tong was also voted first team all-region three times, was a first team all-conference pick three times, and was tabbed the 2014 GLIAC Attacker of the Year as well.
She left an indelible impression on the program as the first player to be named all-American in three different seasons. In her career, Tong smashed 1,563 kills, fifth-most in the history of Findlay volleyball and the most since Mallory Fleming had 1,588 from 2004-2007. Tong's 3.7 kills per set over the course of her career are good for fourth. She also holds two of the top ten seasons at Findlay in terms of kill totals with 480 this season (9th) and 509 in 2015 (6th). Her 31 kill performance on Nov. 11, 2014 against Malone stands as the most kills in a single match in school history.
