Oilers Split on Saturday
The University of Findlay volleyball team split a pair of matches on September 16 in Croy Gymnasium. They beat Cedarville 3-2 (18-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-25, 15-11) before falling 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-9, 24-26, 3-15) to Flagler.
In their first match against Cedarville, junior Amanda Winner led the Oilers with 17 kills. Sophomore Izzy Murphy hit .300 in the match recording 13 kills. Sophomore Molly Hammersmith also contributed 7 kills for Findlay, and Sophomore Jenna Delarber added 5.
Junior Hailee Olson recorded 44 assists in the match against Cedarville, along with 6 digs and 3 kills.
Junior Kara Scherger received 22 digs for the Oilers, leading the team defensively.
In their second match against Flagler, Winner led the Oiler with a double-double recording 19 kills and 12 digs. Murphy recorded 16 digs in the win, while Delarber contributed 9, Shelby Kin added 8, and Hammersmith had 7.
Olsen double-doubled recording 53 assists and 15 digs for Findlay, while Scherger racked up 28 digs, the fourth-highest total in school history.
The Oilers who are now 10-1 on the year and 3-0 in conference, play Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville on September 22.
