Oilers Cruise Past Trevecca Nazarene

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team wrapped up their regular season home schedule with a convincing 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-10) win over the invading Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Monday, Nov. 6. With the win, the Oilers improve their record to 24-4 overall with a 15-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Trojans fall to 4-22 overall and 1-14 in conference play. It is the third consecutive match that the Oilers have won without dropping a set. With just one conference loss, the Oilers remain atop the G-MAC West Division.

Findlay dominated the match, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4, and hit a season-high .424 as a team while holding the Trojans to just .067 in that department.

Sophomore Izzy Murphy led the home team in kills, racking up 15, her third-highest total of the season, while hitting a season-best .625. Murphy was joined in the double-digit kills column by sophomore teammate Shelby Kin who finished with ten kills and hitting .429. Kin also recorded three blocks.

Sophomore Molly Hammersmith finished the match with eight kills and three blocks.

Junior Hailee Olson led the Oilers with 38 assists in the match and was third on the squad with seven digs while senior Kara Scherger led the team with 20 digs.

Sophomore Ally Duncan had the serve working and tied her season-best with four aces.

Findlay is back on the court for a non-conference matchup against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Ashland tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 7. That match will begin at 7:00 pm.
