Oilers Begin NCAA Tourney Action on Thursday
The University of Findlay volleyball team will be making their third straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament as they kick off the postseason on Nov. 30 against Hillsdale College in Romeoville, Ill. at 3:30 p.m.

Findlay
The Oilers have been led by junior Amanda Winner, who was a first team all-Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) selection. She has accumulated a team-high 461 kills this year, the tenth-best total in school history.
Junior Hailee Olson was also a first team all-conference pick and leads the team with 1,293 assists and 47 aces. Her assist total is the ninth-best total in school history.
Junior Kara Scherger was named first team all-conference this season and has registered 573 digs, the second-best total in school history. She was also joined on the first team by sophomore Shelby Kin, who is hitting .345 on the season. Her hitting percentage is the fourth-best mark in school history.
Sophomore Molly Hammersmith has also had a great season and was named second team all-conference in 2017. Hammersmith has recorded 252 kills and has 57 total blocks.
The Oilers fell 3-2 against Cedarville in the quarterfinals last season in Big Rapids, Mich. The year before that, the Oilers went 1-1 after defeating Hillsdale 3-1 in the opening round and losing 3-1 to Ferris State in the round of 32.
The first time Findlay made the NCAA national tournament was 2000, coach Wick Colchagoff's third year at the helm. In that season the Oilers lost in the second round to Northwood University. They returned to the tournament in 2001 and reached the round of 32 before falling to Grand Valley State in the second round. They also qualified in 2003, but fell to Northern Kentucky in the first round.
The NCAA Division II Elite 8 will take place on Dec. 7-9 in Pensacola, Fla.
