Oilers Snag Two Victories on 1st Day of Findlay Classic

The University of Findlay volleyball team started off the 2018 Findlay Classic with a pair of wins on August 31 in Findlay, Ohio. They began the day with a 3-2 (28-26, 21-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9) win against Missouri – St. Louis and also added a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-11) victory over Ohio Valley University.

Senior Amanda Winner hit .357 to lead the Oilers offensively against Missouri – St. Louis with 17 kills. Junior Izzy Murphy and sophomore Madison Moore both contributed 12 kills, while junior Shelby Kin added 11.

Senior Hailee Olson had 50 assists and eight digs in the win.

Defensively, senior Kara Scherger led the team with 18 digs. Junior Ally Duncan recorded 13 digs, while sophomore Olivia Morrison added 12 and Winner tallied 11.

Scherger recorded four aces against the Tritons.

The Oilers hit .407 in their victory over Ohio Valley. Kin led the team offensively, hitting .526 by recording 11 kills. Winner also contributed 9 kills, while Moore added seven.

Olson recorded 33 assists and Duncan recorded five aces against the Fighting Scots.

The Oilers, who are now 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, will be back in action tomorrow against the Ashland University Eagles at 7:00pm.
