Findlay Wins Ten Straight | Take Tight Match With Cedarville

Cedarville, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball travelled south to take on Cedarville University for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup today Saturday, Oct. 1. The Oilers won 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 28-26, 25-23). With the victory, the Oilers have now won ten consecutive games. Findlay now has a record of 12-7 and are still perfect in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play at 8-0. Cedarville falls to 8-9 on the year with a 6-4 record in the G-MAC.

The Oilers and Yellow Jackets saw back-and forth action for most of the match. The largest lead held by either team was a five point lead for the Oilers in the first set. From there, the teams were constantly alternating leads. However, it was Findlay who held just a slight advantage over Cedarville.

Findlay hit .150 on the match, picking up 51 kills and making 27 errors. On the other side, the Yellow Jackets  hit .135 on the match, also recording 51 kills but making 31 errors.

Sophomore Journey Blevins, who has won three consecutive G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week awards, led the way with 16 kills on Saturday and was second on the team with ten digs. 

Freshman standout Alana Pohlman finished with 12 kills and led the defensive effort at the net with five blocks. Senior Norah Painted picked up 11 kills.

Freshman Emma White, who ranks sixth in Division II in assists this season, added 45 assists to her total and also added six digs. Findlay's leader in that category was sophomore Ava Doster who had 25 digs.

The Oilers will be back in action on Oct. 7 as they take on Ashland University. The Eagles who have won eleven straight will host the Oilers. The game is scheduled for 7pm.
