Findlay Falls to Hillsdale in G-MAC North Division Clash

Hillsdale, Mich.- The University of Findlay volleyball team headed north tonight, Friday, Oct. 28, to take on G-MAC rival Hillsdale College.The teams entered the match tied for the lead in the G-MAC North Division. The Chargers won the match 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21) which gives Hillsdale a one match lead over Findlay in the G-MAC North Division standings. With the loss, Findlay falls to 16-12 on the season and 12-3 in conference play. Meanwhile, Hillsdale moves to 21-6 overall and 13-2 in the conference.

The Oilers just fell short to the Chargers in total kills, 52-50 in the match, but Hilldale controlled two of the three sets they won and pulled away from the Oilers in the match by simply being more efficient. Findlay recorded 27 attack errors to that of Hillsdale's 14, and hit .135 on the night compared to the Charger's .244. Hillsdale had fewer errors than the Oilers in all three sets they won. Findlay won the only set where they tied Hillsdale in attack errors which came in set two.

Leading the way for the Oilers was sophomore all-American Journey Blevins. She recorded 21 kills on the night and hit .174 as she had 69 total attempts. Blevins also recorded twelve digs. Freshman standout Alana Pohlman tallied thirteen kills and hit .296.

Freshman Emma White, who currently ranks second in Division II in total assists, added 42 to her total and also added four aces. She also ranked fourth in digs tonight, recording ten. Findlay's leader in that category was sophomore Ava Doster who had 23 digs. At the net, senior Emma Meyer recorded five blocks. 

The Oilers will be back in action for a rare occurrence as they face Hillsdale again tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 29. The Halloween Game is scheduled to begin at 4pm. Fans are encouraged to dress up as there will be prizes and giveaways. In addition, the five seniors will be recognized before the game.
