Oilers Fall to Hillsdale in Four

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's volleyball team hosted Hillsdale College in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup today, to solidify the top seed in the G-MAC North Division. The Oilers fell short in the match today by a score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23). With the loss the Oilers move to 16-13 on the season and 12-4 in the conference. Meanwhile, Hillsdale moves to 22-6 on the year and 14-2 in the G-AMC. 

The Oilers came out of the gates with all the momentum as they outhit the Chargers severely in the first set, recording 19 kills and held Hillsdale to just seven, hitting an impressive .444 in the set.

From there Findlay had trouble keeping up with the Chargers as Hillsdale pulled away for a second set victory behind strong hitting, ending the set with a 6-1 run. Findlay led for much of the third set, but ultimately Hillsdale came out on top outhitting the Oilers and ending the set on a 4-1 run.

Findlay looked like they were going to force a fifth set during the fourth as they jumped out to an 8-3 lead early. Hillsdale slowly came back and took away the Oilers' advantage. With the score tied at 20, the Chargers outscored Findlay 5-3, with three of Hillsdale's points being scored from Findlay's errors. 

The Oilers were led by senior Norah Painter and sophomore Journey Blevins who both recorded a team-high nineteen kills. Blevins hit an impressive .381 while Painter hit .238 on the night. Belvins also added thirteen digs. Freshman Alana Pohlman added eleven kills.

Freshman Emma White, who currently ranks second in Division II in total assists, added 52 to her total and added seven digs tonight. Findlay's leader in that category was sophomore Ava Doster who had 17 digs. At the net, senior Emma Meyer and Alana Pohlman recorded three blocks. 

Findlay will be back in action as they travel to Ursuline on Friday, Nov. 4.
