Team Effort Leads to Dominant Road Win in Pepper Pike

Pepper Pike, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team bounced back after back-to-back losses last week, dominating the Ursuline College Arrows 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-14) on Friday, Nov. 4. With the victory, Findlay now has a record of 17-13 and are 13-4 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Ursuline falls to 3-25 on the year with a 1-17 record in the G-MAC.

In the first set, the Oilers got down by a score of 8-3  early on but would close that gap by holding the Arrows to just seven more points during the set while the Oilers picked up 22. Most notably, Findlay went on a seven point run late to take the first set with ease. 

The second set showed the Oilers offensive dominance as they picked up the first twelve points of the set. From there, Findlay held all the momentum breezing through the second set by hitting an impressive .615. 

The final set saw more of the same as the Oilers never trailed. Findlay recorded 14 kills to Ursuline's five to pick up their seventeenth win of the season.

Sophomore Journey Blevins, who ranks second in Division II in total kills,  led the way with 15 kills on Friday and hit .333. Freshman Alana Pohlman tallied nine kills, hitting .615. 

Standout freshman Emma White, who leads the conference in assists, added 35 to her total and also added two aces. Sophomore Ava Doster recorded thirteen digs.

The Oilers will round out their regular season schedule with a trip to Lake Erie College, Saturday, Nov. 5. The game is scheduled to begin at 1pm. Findlay will then turn their attention to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship will be held Nov. 10-12.
