Oilers Win In Wilmington

The University of women's cross country team won the Wilmington College Fall Classic while the men finished second at the same event on Friday, October 15 in Wilmington, Ohio. The women won with 103 points, five less than second place Tiffin University while the men finished second to the Dragons as they recorded 115 points compared to Tiffin's 49.

On the women's side, Christine Zimmermann finished sixth to lead the team after crossing the finish line in 18:48.91 while Katherine McHenry was 15th at 19:16.30.

Rachel Hosie (19:19.72), Alexa Stults (19:32.03), Erica Goeltzenleuchter (19:57.53), Lindsey Schmitmeyer (19:59.37), Abigail Magner (20:01.05), Ashley Sprunger (20:05.13), Brier Sterling (20:11.66), Stephanie Charnigo (20:24.06) and Catherine Wiemers (20:24.16) also competed for Findlay at the event.

On the men's side, Justin Eilerman led the way by taking 13th place with a time of 25:44.78 while Jordan Kirwen was 22nd at 26:13.82.

Shoayb Bascal (26:21.84), Timothy Majoy (26:27.78), Sean Jones (26:32.93), Brock Lloyd (26:34.82), Joe Guerra (27:13.23), Luis Velasco (28:10.44), Colin Walthour (28:40.68), Simon Bernard (28:51.97) and Alex Betts (29:44.72) also competed for the Oilers at the event.

The Oilers will be back in action again on November 6 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship in Hillsdale, Michigan.
