Oilers Tested at Spartan Invitational
The University of Findlay cross country team participated in the Spartan Invitational in Lansing, MI on Friday, September 12.
The women's collegiate race featured a field of 307 participants. Freshman Taylor Bolinger led Findlay's women's squad with her time of 22:59, a time that earned her a 45th place finish. Sophomore Melanie Ruich crossed the line in 67th place with a time of 23:23. Close behind was junior Erica Bettac, whose time of 23:39 earned her 82nd place.
Other runners for the Oilers were junior Meredith Hoops (103, 24:07), junior Samantha Grippe (111, 24:19), junior McKenzie Mahlmeister (144, 24:54), sophomore Maud Sanmiquel (147, 24:56), sophomore Kailey Coleman (243, 27:38), freshman Megan Martz (247, 27:41), and sophomore Bethany Dewey (287, 29:55).
In the men's collegiate race, there were 371 runners. Finishing in the top 100 were senior Justin Eilerman , who led the Oilers with his time of 25:59, good enough for 66th place, and senior Jacob Hayes, who finished in 94th with his time of 26:33.
Other participants for Findlay were freshman Matias Trampe Kindt (175, 27:38), sophomore Aaron Cingle (203, 28:08), freshman Sean Stockmaster (216, 28:22), sophomore Josh Seedorf (234, 28:42), junior Derek Bornorst (268, 29:26), sophomore Seth Pemberton (283, 29:41), freshman John Davis (288, 29:49), and junior Dillon Webster (311, 30:32).
Both teams will be back in action Saturday, September 20 when they travel to Newville, PA for the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational.
