Oilers' Season Concludes at Midwest Regional

The University of Findlay men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their seasons on Saturday (Nov. 22) as they competed at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional held in Evansville, IN.

Men:

Senior Jacob Hayes led the team as he finished the race in 69th place with a time of 33:01. That time is good for the fourth fastest 10k time in Findlay history and is his personal best in that distance by 30 seconds.  Freshman Matias Trampe-Kindt ran his fastest 10k time as well as he finished with a time of 34:30, a time that earned him a 131st place finish. Close behind was freshman Sean Stockmaster. The first year runner finished in 145th with his time of 34:49 with junior teammate Derek Bornorst coming in 21 seconds later (35:10) in 155th place.

Other finishers for the Oilers were freshman Jacob Will (166, 35:44) and sophomore Aaron Cingle (181, 36:41).

As a team, Findlay finished in 25th of the 29 teams with 657 points. Grand Valley State University took home the championship with just 43 points.

Women:

Freshman Taylor Bolinger led the women's team as she finished in 71st with a time of 22:57. Junior Erica Bettac had a personal record as she finished in 83rd with a time of 23:08. That time places her 14th all-time among Findlay runners. Close behind was sophomore Melanie Ruich whose time of 23:16 placed her in 90th.

Other finishers for the Oilers included junior Samantha Grippe (122, 23:49), junior Meredith Hoops (141, 24:07), and junior McKenzie Mahlmeister (158, 24:40).

As a team, the women finished in 17th with 496 points. GVSU also captured the women's title as they scored 43 points.
