Findlay Competes at #JennaStrong Classic
The University of Findlay men and women cross country teams traveled to Wilmington, Ohio for the #JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday, October 14 at Wilmington College. The event featured about 400 men competitors and 350 women participants across all NCAA divisions.
Men's Results
In the 8,000 meter race, sophomore Jonathan Allen earned 2nd place with a time of 24:59.1. His time is good enough for 4th all-time in the UF records books. Not far off his record pace was junior Matias Trampe-Kindt, who also put his name in the Findlay record book. Trampe-Kindt grabbed 24th with a time of 25:51.3, which places him 14th all-time at Findlay.
Sophomore Tyler Beck collected 73rd in a time of 26:43.1. Rounding out the scoring for the Oilers were sophomore Michael Taylor, who finished 88th at the 26:55.2 mark, and sophomore Austin Guthrie, who recorded 92nd with a time of 26:59.1.
Also competing for Findlay were sophomore Troy Schultz (28:42.5) and freshman Nick Korducki (31:36.3).
The Findlay men finished in 7th place out of 38 teams with 243 total points.
Women's Results
Junior Taylor Bolinger led the Oilers with a recording setting pace. She finished the race in 8th place with a time of 18:15.8. That ranks her 2nd all-time in the UF record book for the 5,000 meter race. Not far behind was senior Nicole Burlinson, who also finished the race in record time. Burlinson earned 10th in the meet with a time of 18:21.6, to put her 3rd all-time in the Findlay record book.
Senior Melanie Ruich also performed well with a 33rd place finish at the 19:12.9 mark. Rounding out the scoring for the Oilers were sophomore Torrie Purdy, who claimed 46th at 19:29.0, and freshman Madison Borer, who finished 72nd in a time of 19:54.9.
Also competing for Findlay were freshman Madilyn Greiner (20:05.7), freshman Jenna Shipman (20:13.6), senior Maud Sanmiquel (20:53.0), freshman Aubreah Manns (20:59.2), sophomore Megan Martz (21:30.6), freshman Sidney Towalski (21:36.2), senior Kailey Coleman (22:20.5), and freshman Maggie Kise (22:20.7)
The Findlay women finished in 4th place out of 38 teams with 156 total points.
Next Up
The Oilers next meet will be the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship in Big Rapids, Mich. at Ferris State University on October, 22. The championship meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
