Oilers Open Season at Back to Nature Preserve Invitational
The University of Findlay men and women's cross country teams opened their season on Friday, August 31 at the Back to Nature Preserve Open in Bluffton, Ohio. The Oilers had a great day all around as the men's team finished first while the women placed second.
Men's Results
The Oilers had four athletes finish in the top-20 and were led by senior Jonathan Allen, who took second with a time of 19:16.49. Senior Ty Gleason finished in eighth place with a time of 19:53.18 while teammate and senior Michael Taylor came in right behind in ninth place at 19:54.53.
Women's Results
Freshman Gabrielle Lawrence paced the race by finishing first with a time of 19:16.79.
Junior Madilyn Greiner (21:04.20), sophomore Matilda Jeruto (21:23.21), and senior Torrie Purdy (21:38.77) finished 16th, 22nd, and 23rd respectively.
The men and women's cross country team will compete next on Saturday, September 8 at the Calvin Knights Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
