Stiegal | White Earn Mancuso Award

Senior swimmer Amanda Stiegal and senior basketball player Alex White have been selected as the Oilers 2018-19 Mancuso Award winners. The award is named after and sponsored by Iggy Mancuso, a 1945 graduate and highly successful wrestling coach at Findlay from 1948-58.

The award is intended to bring distinction and honor to the top male and female athlete at Findlay each year. The criteria for being selected includes; academic achievement, athletic achievement, contributions to the university, community and sport, sportsmanship, special distinction related to athletic success and athletes who best exemplify integrity, loyalty and humility in academics and athletics.

"These two student-athletes truly exemplify what it means to be an Oiler, said Director of Athletics, Brandi Laurita." Amanda and Alex have had great success athletically and academically and are truly outstanding individuals who do a tremendous job of representing our university."

Stiegal is a pre-vet and animal science major who is carrying a 3.86 grade point average. In the pool, Stiegal won four Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) championships this season and earned All-American honors in the 200 and 400-yard medley relays. Outside of the pool, Stiegal has volunteered her time with Habitat for Humanity, Teddy's Rescue, and is a part of the Hancock County Leadership Alumni Association. She also teaches swim lessons at Findlay and the YMCA while serving as a member of the Oilers Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

White is a marketing major who sports a 3.11 grade point average. On the court, White earned All-American honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and was named the Midwest Region Player of the Year this season. He was also voted the G-MAC Player of the Year and earned first team all-conference honors. He was also selected to play in the Reese's Division II College All-Star Game after averaging 18.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game during his final season. Off the court, White has spent time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, the Hancock County Special Olympics, Race for the Cure, and Relay for Life.
