G-MAC Cancels Remaining Athletic Competition and Championships

On Friday, March 13, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), in cooperation with its member institutions, announced the cancelation of all spring athletic competition as well as all Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, effective immediately. This cancelation comes as a result of growing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus, more commonly known as the coronavirus.

As well as canceling athletic competition, all Great Midwest Athletic Conference institutions will be prohibiting other team-related activity through April 6, with the option for each institution to use its own discretion following that date. To remain consistent with the university's suspension of face-to-face classes, Findlay will prohibit all team-related activity through April 14. On that day, an update will be released as to how the Findlay athletic department will proceed.

This announcement comes one day after the NCAA announced via twitter the cancelation of all remaining winter and spring championships.

"We are certainly in an unprecedented time, not only for our country, but in the world of collegiate athletics", said Director of Athletics, Brandi Laurita. "Working in accordance with the NCAA, the G-MAC, and the state of Ohio, we believe that this is currently the best course of action in what has proven to be an ever-changing and challenging situation."
