3 Oilers Earn Academic All-District from COSIDA

The University of Findlay had three student-athletes earn first team Academic All-District 4 honors from the College of Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) for their achievements in athletics and in the classroom during the 2019-20 season. Seniors Luke Kelly, Meredith Wipper, and Hanna Cederholm will now advance to the national ballot for consideration to be named Academic All-American.

Kelly, a standout on the Oilers men's golf team, has a 3.49 grade point average and is majoring in Finance. He set a new Findlay record with a 71.67 scoring average and had the Oilers men's golf team ranked nationally for the first time in program history as they ended the season abruptly due to the COVID-19 pandemic positioned at 22nd in the nation. The team was also ranked second in the Midwest Region.

Kelly's scoring average ranked 23rd in NCAA Division II and he was named an honorable mention All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the first time an Oilers men's golfer has ever been awarded the accolade.

His high point in the season came at the Ohio Cup when he fired a final round score of 66 (-6), the second-lowest total in school history.

Wipper, a star on the Oilers women's golf team, has a 3.77 grade point average and is majoring in Sport and Event Management. She may have had her season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but she averaged 74.55 strokes per round, the third-best single-season total in school history. Her scoring average also ranked 35th nationally.

Wipper was named a second team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) and was a first team all-East Region pick by the organization as well.

The Hilton Head, S.C. native had her team ranked seventh in the nation and second in the East region when the season was cancelled. She also shot a school record 67 (-5) during the second round of the William Beall Fall Classic and finished in the top-10 in four of the five tournaments she played.

Cederholm, a standout on the Oilers women's swimming and diving team, has a 3.90 grade point average and is majoring in Animal Science and Pre-Vet. She continued her storied career at Findlay by being named All-American in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard medley relay by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

Cederholm received the University of Findlay Mancuso Award as the top female athlete on campus and was also named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Swimmer of the Year and G-MAC Swimmer of the Meet after winning six league titles.

A first team all-conference selection, Cederholm set four school records during the 2019-20 season in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.97), 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.11), 200-yard IM (2:04.16), and 200-yard medley relay (1:42.73).
