Oilers Split Twin Bill at Hillsdale

The University of Findlay baseball team split a doubleheader at Hillsdale College on April 13. The split gives the Oilers an 18-9 record on the season with an 11-5 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers won the first game of the twin bill by a score of 8-1. The Oilers jumped on the Chargers early as Ryan Johnson smoked a grand slam over the left field wall in the opening frame. Casey Gould would then homer to left in the second as Findlay took a 6-0 lead. They would then add two more runs in the seventh with Tyler Burley singled home a pair of runs.

Johnson finished the first game by going 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and one run scored. Gould scored two runs and drove in two while Burley went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and one run scored.

Colin Gossard picked up the victory by going the distance. He allowed eight hits, one run and struck out eight batters.

Findlay came up short in the second game as they fell 6-1. Alexander Theiss took the loss after allowing four earned runs on six hits in four innings of work. Theiss struck out two, but walked six.

Derrick Herd, Burley and Nic Varda each had a hit in the loss.

The Oilers will be back in action on April 17 when they travel to Ashland University for a single game.
