Findlay Blanked by Lake Erie in Series Finale

Box Score

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay baseball team dropped the final game of their series with Lake Erie College on Sunday, April 22 at The Cube. With the 4-0 loss, Findlay is now 20-11 on the season with a 13-6 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Storm improve to 13-20-1 overall with an 11-10 mark in the league.

The game was a pitcher' dual throughout, as the series had been thus far, and it was the Storm who found a way to score. LEC picked up a single run in the fourth inning on a pair of hits and added one more in the eighth after an error put a runner on second to begin the inning. Two more runs in the ninth for the Storm gave the visitors a 4-0 lead in the ninth and, despite a single with two out, proved to be too much for the Oilers to overcome.

Findlay finished with just four hits and made an uncharacteristic three errors in the contest. Casey Gould, Tyler Burley, Austin Rawlins, and Josh Schwerer had the hits for the Orange and Black.

Alexander Theiss got the start on the hill and threw well, pitching 8.0 innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits. He walked one and struck out three.

The Oilers are back on the diamond on Tuesday, April 24 when they host Urbana for a non-conference affair.
