Oilers Fall in Game One vs. Ashland

Ashland, OH- The University of Findlay baseball team traveled to Ashland Ohio for a four-game series against the Ashland University Eagles. Due to forecasted weather late on Sunday, the teams agreed upon a 3-day series consisting of one 9 inning game on Friday, two 7 inning games on Saturday, and the final 9 inning game on Sunday. Coming into the series the Oilers occupied 5th place in the G-MAC (Great Midwest Athletic Conference) with a 12-10 record.  

Findlay took a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning when senior Christian Orr scored senior Tyler Burley. The Oilers would extend their lead with a sacrifice fly from junior Aiden Lao that would allow junior Nate Brooks to score.  

Ashland would respond with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to give them a 3-2 lead. 

Senior Bailey McCord started the game on the mound for the Oilers and threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 earned runs while racking up 6 strikeouts. Senior Gavin Bailey would come in first out of the bullpen and throw the remainder of the game allowing no earned runs and striking out two batters.
