Bio

Troy Merriman will begin his fifth year as the assistant coach for the Oilers in the 2023-24 season. Merriman has an overall record of 69-85 as the assistant coach of the Oilers.

The 2023 season was a historic one for the University of Findlay baseball team. The Oilers finished the season as the third team standing in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament, falling in the consolation final after winning three consecutive elimination games. A record of 32-22 is the best in the NCAA era of the program and had the Oilers on the verge of making the program's first NCAA Regional appearance. Their 32 wins established a new program record for season wins, breaking the 2008 record of 28 wins.

In the 2022 season, Merriman led the team to a 18-31 overall record and 13-17 record in conference play. He coached four of his players to all-Great Midwest honors.

Although his first season was shortened to 12 games due to the COVID-19 outbreak, under Merriman's direction, the Oilers showed promise offensively, hitting .310 over that stretch including 90 runs scored.

A four-year starter for the Oilers from 2015-18, Merriman played in 158 games in his career and finished with 105 hits. He scored 47 runs and drove in 45 RBI as Findlay's everyday third baseman.

Troy resides in Findlay along with his wife Hannah, who attended Findlay and played golf for the Oilers from 2012-16. They have a son, Tate.
