Demler and Jefferson Earn G-MAC Players of the Week

Findlay, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) handed out their Player of the Week honors on Monday, Oct. 14 and, after a 19-10 victory over Walsh on Saturday, two Oilers football players were selected. Junior Chris Demler was named Special Teams Player of the Week while sophomore Christopher Jefferson was the Defensive Player of the Week.

In a game that was nip and tuck throughout, Findlay kicker Chris Demler's performance turned out to be an essential part of the Oilers' victory. The junior was a perfect 4-of-4 on field goal attempts, two of which came in the fourth quarter to give Findlay a two-possession lead late in the game. It is the first time in G-MAC history that a kicker has made four field goals in a game and is the first time a Findlay kicker has made four field goals since Roland Hamilton made four against Northern Michigan in 2005. Demler also added an extra point for a total of 13 points which ties a conference record. This is the second time this season that Demler has earned Player of the Week honors.

Equally as impressive was the play of defensive back Christopher Jefferson who finished the game with six tackles and a pair of interceptions. The Oilers sophomore, who last week had three interceptions, now has five interceptions in the last two weeks, the most INT in a two-week stretch in program history. He now has seven picks on the year, the most in the country across all NCAA divisions. This is the first time in his career that Jefferson has earned Player of the Week honors.
